What makes a restaurant family-friendly?
Space for big tables without squeezing. A menu with mild options alongside the spicy ones. Food that arrives fast enough for hungry kids. And prices that don't punish you for bringing six people. DesINorth Milton was built for exactly this — our dining room seats 75–80 guests, so birthday tables, team dinners and three-generation outings are a normal Tuesday here, not a special request.
Food the kids will actually eat
The Kids Aloo / Paneer Paratha is made for little appetites, and mild dishes like Shahi Paneer, Cream of Tomato soup and Plain Naan / Butter Naan / Garlic Naan suit cautious eaters. Sweet endings seal the deal: Gulab Jamun with Ice Cream / Rabri or a Sizzling Brownie with Ice Cream for the table to share.
Sharing platters for the whole table
Family dinner works best shared. The Veg Platter — seven tandoor appetizers — lands in the middle and disappears fast. Add Amritsari Tandoori Chicken and Murg Seekh Kebab for the meat-eaters, then curries for everyone: Town Heaviest Butter Chicken, Kadhai Paneer and Dal-style comforts with Jeera Rice and baskets of naan. Nobody leaves hungry; everybody finds their dish.
Biryani nights and Hakka cravings
Some families come for Lucknowi Chicken Biryani night — fragrant, layered, with Veg Biryani and Paneer Biryani so no one misses out. Others come for the Hakka side: Chilli Garlic Noodles (Veg / Egg / Chicken), Fried Rice (Veg / Egg / Chicken) and Honey Chilli Cauliflower are kid-approved crowd-pleasers. Two cuisines, one table, zero arguments.
Easy on the wallet
Feeding a family shouldn't hurt. The weekday $15 thali (Mon–Fri 12–4 PM, dine-in) — butter chicken, kadhai paneer or dal makhani with basmati rice, 1 naan and gulab jamun, $15 flat — is the best-value lunch in Milton. Taking it home? Our Meal for 4 — Veg and Meal for 4 — Non-Veg takeout family meals feed the whole crew in one box — see our takeout guide.
Desserts worth saving room for
Kids negotiate dessert before the mains arrive — lean into it. Gulab Jamun with Ice Cream / Rabri is the classic, Rasmalai is lighter, and Malpua with Rabri is the one grandparents order twice. For full celebration mode, the Royal Ice Cream Falooda and Sizzling Brownie with Ice Cream turn the table into an event.
Celebrating something?
Birthdays, anniversaries, team wins — we host them in-house and we cater them off-site. See birthday parties in Milton and catering for details.
Picky eaters welcome
Every family has one. Ours are covered: Steamed Rice with Plain Yogurt, Tandoori Roti / Butter Roti, French Fries, and Cream of Tomato soup. Simple, familiar, no surprises. And once the picky eater tries someone else's Butter Chicken Wrap, resistance usually crumbles.
Grandparents approve
The toughest critics at any family table are the elders — and they're ours to win. Familiar, properly-made classics: Dal-style lentils, Jeera Rice, soft Tandoori Roti / Butter Roti, and Rasmalai for dessert. No fusion experiments forced on anyone; just the flavours they grew up with, done right. When the grandparents ask to come back, you know the restaurant passed.
