Why the tandoor matters
A tandoor is a clay oven fired to extreme heat. Meat marinated overnight hits the wall of the oven and cooks in minutes — charred outside, juicy inside, kissed with smoke. Naan slapped onto the same walls puffs and blisters in under a minute. If an Indian restaurant in Milton doesn't run a real tandoor, its "tandoori" is just oven-baked chicken with red colouring. Ours is the real thing, fired daily.
The tandoori chicken, done right
Our Amritsari Tandoori Chicken is marinated overnight in yogurt and Amritsari spices, then roasted in the clay oven until the edges char. It arrives sizzling, with onion and lemon — squeeze, tear, repeat. This is the dish that tells you everything about a tandoor kitchen in one bite.
Kebabs and tikkas from the clay oven
Murg Seekh Kebab — hand-minced chicken, cream, lemon, medium spice — is the classic. Murg-e-Azam Tikka brings red-chilli heat on succulent thigh meat, while Murg Afghani Malai Tikka goes the other way: mild, cashew-and-cream marination, meltingly soft. Vegetarians get the same treatment with Paneer Tikka Kurkure (crispy yogurt-seasoned coating) and Soya Chaap (Tandoori / Malai). Even our momos meet the tandoor — try Tandoori Momos for something different.
Breads: the tandoor's other half
Tandoori isn't just meat. Plain Naan / Butter Naan / Garlic Naan, Tandoori Roti / Butter Roti and Laccha Paratha are all baked fresh in the clay oven, to order — never reheated. Order breads through the meal, not all at once: naan waits for no one.
Tandoori for vegetarians
The tandoor doesn't play favourites. Paneer Tikka Kurkure (crispy, yogurt-seasoned), Soya Chaap (Tandoori / Malai), Hara Bhara Kebab (broccoli, peas, spinach) and Dahi Ke Kebab (hung curd, black pepper) all come out of the same clay oven as the chicken. Add Amritsari Kulcha (Aloo / Gobi / Paneer) — stuffed, tandoor-baked — and vegetarians eat just as well as everyone else.
How to order a tandoori spread
For two: tandoori chicken plus one kebab, naan basket, and a cooling Raita (Boondi / Cucumber / Pineapple). For the table: mix chicken and paneer tikkas so everyone's covered. And if you want the full tour in one sitting, the weekday $15 thali (Mon–Fri 12–4 PM, dine-in) pairs tandoor-fresh naan with butter chicken, kadhai paneer or dal makhani, basmati rice and gulab jamun — $15 flat.
Tandoori beyond dinner
Tandoor flavour shows up across the menu, not just at dinner. The Butter Chicken Wrap rolls tandoor-style chicken into a warm paratha for lunch on the go. The takeout-only Tandoori Chicken Pizza puts tandoori chicken on a proper pizza base — a Milton mashup that works. And Soya Chaap Wrap gives vegetarians the same smoky treatment. The clay oven earns its keep all day here.
Why restaurant tandoori beats homemade
Home ovens top out around 250°C; a clay tandoor runs near 480°C. That gap is everything — it's what gives tandoori its blistered char and smoky depth in minutes instead of drying out over half an hour. Marinades matter too: ours rest overnight so the flavour goes all the way through. Some things are worth leaving to the professionals, and the tandoor is one of them.
